Recce Form
Description of the Location:
The pond area in Southgate School. The setting is quite overgrown and has a variety of trees and grass areas. The plain grass section is Eden-like and extremely peaceful. The setting seems surreal and the light wind on the trees and grass create an eerie atmosphere to begin the film.
Purpose:
Opening the film, the first shot is of ‘Lauren’ lying on the grass – the shot seems surreal and heavenly. She stands up and walks to an area surrounded by trees. The setting is ideal as it is arbitrary and out of the ordinary. She walks through, struggling and ends
List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose:
· Private room meaning no disturbance to our filming and
· The bed, in a close up shot, looks homey and realistic, fitting the narrative perfectly.
The colour scheme of the bedding was neutral and had no interference with the focus or voyeurism of the scene.
· The layout of the room conveniently had the bed in the corner and a wide space parallel, giving us space and variability for our filming.
List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose:
· The furniture and equipment around the room, being a physiotherapy room, are out of place for the ‘bedroom’ setting. Making it a priority to not capture any of the apparatus in the shot.
· Being a private room for medical use, the possibility of it being occupied for its original purpose will be a disruption out of our control.
If you use this location what will you have to be aware of at all times?
The furniture and equipment around the room are irregularly shaped and fragile, posing possible danger when filming the scene.
Will you use this location?
Yes, the atmosphere of the room is extremely naturalistic, fitting our narrative perfectly. The colour scheme of the bedding is ideal for the character’s role and setting

Description of the Location:
Called the ‘Secret Garden’, a quiet empty garden that is public but not frequently used. Inside it has some trees and knocked down walls and an abandoned fountain area. The trees make the garden seem slightly uncomfortable and mysterious, as a character would be unaware of what is behind. Contains a single bench in front of a group of trees.
Purpose:
The first scene of the opening sequence, the murderer will be hiding behind a tree at first with the two girls sitting on the bench beside the trees, the trees will be used to hide behind and get a point of view shot of the murderer. The murder will not be shown but the paved floor means that dropping the knife (with blood on) will produce a sound.
List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose:
· Unused and quiet meaning no passers by will interrupt the footage and no unwanted members of the public will be in the background.
· Dark setting, high walls make the garden and inside run down and destroyed brick walls make the environment mysterious.
· High volume of tall trees and a bench beside the trees make the setting perfect for a stalker situation, where the stalker hides in the dense trees.
List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose:
· Uncontrollable weather meaning filming could be halted, no shelter.
· Lacked lighting meaning when the sunsets filming will be terminated for the day.
If you use this location what will you have to be aware of at all times?
Lots of steps in the garden that make filming difficult, also possibly dangerous when using the camera to be aware of obstructions.
Will you use this location?
Yes. The mysterious and surreptitious setting and location means that there is some sense of isolation and abandonment in this deserted garden.

Recce Form:house area
Description of the Location:
Mohammad’s house, average, 4-bedroom house on a peaceful street. Suitable lighting in the day/night depending on what is needed for the film. The house has a spacious back garden and large windows overlooking it: good overhead shots. The exterior of the house is simple and the road is empty and quiet.
Purpose:
The House will be used for the garden and exterior, the house will be used for scene 2. The camera will pan across the scenery, capturing the main house (number 71) and its neighbouring houses. The panning movement used as an establishing shot sets the scene and helps contextualise the audience on where this film is taking place, the peacefulness of the road will be key to the narrative as a deserted and empty location is always unnerving for an audience.
List three points that make this location suitable for the purpose:
· Spacious back garden allows wide variety of location and scenery
· Large windows and good LED lighting means quality and accurate footage, also lighting in the front drive and back garden, if needed
· Quiet and extremely empty street means that filming will not be interrupted and footage will be easy to get right, allowing us to experiment with camera angles and shots
List two points that might make this location unsuitable for your purpose:
· Good weather needed at times of filming outside
· Garden may be difficult to portray negatively in a psychological horror context
Will you use this location?
Yes. As it has more positives than negatives, and the main positive being that the road and house set up is precisely what is needed for the scenes

The physiotherapy room in our school. The room contains a bed appropriate to be a teenage girl's bed. The room has plain walls, with posters of scientific diagrams of skeletal structures. The focus will only be on the bed and bedside table. The rest of the room will not be revealed.

The final scene in the opening scene. The close up shot of the girl's face and shoulders, only showing the pillow she is sleeping on. The shot shows her waking up to an alarm; the scene is very naturalistic and portrays the truth, after her complex dream. She wakes up in a bright room with the sunlight directly on her - the contrast between the dark dream sequence and the brilliant atmosphere to which she wakes up in, allows the audience to comprehend the disturbing images of her delusion.
